April 18

Ogechi woke up at 4am. She was tempted to go back to sleep because it was a public holiday and she needed a break from her usual work routine but she felt a nudging to start praying. She went to the bathroom to wash her face.

She returned to the room and she played some background worship songs as she began to pray. Darasimi had travelled to her village for the holidays so she had the room to herself. She felt led to pray concerning her marital settlement.

She had gotten a few proposals from eligible bachelors at church and her place of work but she didn't even feel ready for a relationship. And she wasn't really interested in any of them.

She was still growing in her walk with God, healing from past pains, letting go of ideologies that limited her, renewing her mind with the word of God. She didn't realize how much the death of her family, the abuse she suffered and the toxic relationship with Jasper had affected her but the Holy Spirit was working on her, tenderly yet intensely.

She wanted to be fully capable of giving and receiving love when God finally sent the right man to her.

"He is closer than you think" She heard in her Spirit.
Really? Was it really time or was it her mind playing tricks on her? Maybe because she had been seeing a lot of proposals and weddings on social media, lol. One of her colleagues even brought her wedding IV to work recently.

She sighed and plopped on the bed. "Lord, who is he? It seems his prayers are working"

She resumed praying for another hour before studying her bible. Afterwards, she wrote in her journal.

"Today, I prayed for my future husband and marriage by the leading of the Holy Spirit. God said that he is closer than I think and I shouldn't worry or be afraid. He also said I should start reading more books on relationships and marriage. I prayed that there would be a divine connection and attraction between us.

That's enough talk about marriage, lol. Today is my first Christmas with the Ayeni family and I'm so excited! Thank you Lord for the gift of Daddy Tee and Mummy T.Y. I've learnt and grown so much just by being around them. Continue to bless them for me, amen".

She checked the time and it was few minutes past six. She threw on a robe and headed to the living room downstairs for the general devotion. After that, they started getting ready for the special Christmas service.

Pastor Tade's teaching on the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ was on point and the thanksgiving session led by the choir was also great. Everyone looked nice in their different outfits. After the service, she spotted Gbade walking towards her. He looked extra handsome today, maybe it was the new haircut. He was wearing a white shirt underneath a carton brown waistcoat with matching carton brown pants.

He smiled and gave her a side hug. "Merry Christmas Ogechi. You're looking really beautiful today"

"Thank you. Merry Christmas" She smiled and gave her white dress a quick glance.

"Hope you guys have cooked? I already told mummy I would be coming over to celebrate Christmas with you"

"Are you sure you want to celebrate with us or you're just coming for the food?" She teased.
"Well… The food is part of the celebration but it's not as important as spending time with people I love" He replied.

"Hmmn… That's nice. We were actually rushing to church but we'll start the preparations when we get home. Everything we need is already in the freezer. Trust Mummy T.Y" She added playfully.

"Alright, I'll see you later…" He placed a hand on her shoulder briefly before turning to greet other people.

Shalom walked towards her. "Ogechi, mummy said we should go home and start the cooking because they still have some things to attend to"

"Alright. Let's go" Ogechi replied and picked her bag.

To be continued...

Are you people thinking what I'm thinking?

Ogechi and Shalom, make sure the food is sweet o😌😂
