This post is gleaned from comments of two independent voters on an earlier post of mine about the legacy of Watergate living on. We both were alive during Watergate.
It is funny that the Achilles' Heel of Richard Nixon was his undoing – his paranoia. Taping all conversations in the Oval Office provided the final nails in his coffin. When Alexander Butterfield let the Senate Watergate Committee know Nixon taped people, he was toast.
As for Trump, his Achilles' Heel will likely be remembered as his narcissism. But, two added comments note Trump has more Achilles' Heels than most people.
Per my friend Jill, "narcissism, yes, but also his bigotry against so many … women, people of colour, Muslims, immigrants, etc."
As usual Jill made me think, so I responded "with Trump, there are many choices of Achilles' Heels. Wandering hands, persistent lying, inability to shut up, bullying, etc."
It could be argued that what we added is traceable back to his narcissism - thinking one is better than others, feeling one is irresistible to women and can invade private parts, lying and bullying with perceived impunity and believing people want to hear everything one says, even if it is blathering.
Trump fans may think I just don't like him. The reason I don't like him is he acts this way and has divided our country more. Plus, call me crazy, but I don't think a president should act seditiously against our country.
