4/15/24: Vacation and Art Ops

Spring break has been off to a nice start; celebrating with my best friend from college at her baby shower (having her first, which is so exciting), and spending some time out in the nice weather with another friend and her two kids -- there's a four year age gap between her oldest and our son, but they seem to have fun together regardless.

Tomorrow is the zoo with our friend Sarah and her daughter, and then back home for, lamentably, some chores. Kira is having a friend of hers over for the first time in a long time, and we're trying to perpetuate the illusion that we're functional adults with a handle on our household.

Art Updates:

My piece "Beacons" was accepted into the Kaliedescope: Queer Visions Exhibit, and that will be on display for a week starting May 7th at The Boston Figurative Art Center, for those who might be able and interested.

I was also contacted by both Newburyport Pride and the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention, alerting me of the current art calls. I already have a piece prepared for Newburyport, but I will have to consider what I might want to do for the MCSP. That one is a paid call, which is always exciting.

Anyway, I am surprisingly wiped after today -- two hours running around the park with three kids, grocery shopping, my son's therapy appointment, and a trip out for window shopping and milkshakes.

I'm hoping to share some of my art soon; I've been holding out on Insta because I didn't want to jump the gun when it came to pieces I'd been submitting places, but then... I've also hit a bit of a dry spell where I'm not actually producing that much. These things happen, so I'm not concerned, but it is a little disheartening.

Maybe I just need the time to recharge. I am glad to be on break.

Take care of yourselves, and each other.
