TOPIC: MAN MUST BELIEVE IN CHRIST JESUS
TEXT: ROMANS 10:9
that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. KJV
Apostle Paul, a Hebrew, who grew as a descendant of Israel, after his encounter with Jesus and was saddled with the grace to bring the gospel of salvation to the Jews, and Gentiles was able to identify, and establish that the children of Israel needed the righteousness of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Though, they had the record of a relationship with God which exist under the leadership of Moses, the servant of God; with the laws given to guide them till salvation by faith is revealed as a message of God's eternal purpose for all men on earth. Apostle Paul said many of the Jews had a challenge to come to God by faith because they refused to learn of God's plan of salvation. They were cumbered with their own righteousness which only reveals their inability to walk uprightly before God. The ultimate help they needed was faith to be saved. Where their sins and iniquities are forgiven, and righteousness is imputed to them by faith in God through Christ Jesus.
For as many that will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. All they needed to do was believe with their heart the Lord Jesus, and confess with their mouth that God raised him from the dead. It was difficult even when they had the prophecy of the coming Messiah. However, the way in which he came was different from their expectations. Thus, they struggled to believe in God's plan of redemption. It was established that the message of Christ was preached to them so they can believe in God's grace and gift of righteousness. Please read;
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? Romans 10:14-16 KJV
The above verses established that God has sent preachers to preach and they have the responsibility to believe. The prophets were their preachers of old. In the New Testament, we have preachers like Apostle Paul, Peter and others. Now, we have preachers from different churches as pastors and every born-again child of God is also saddled with this responsibility to preach the grace of God that brought salvation. Have you believed the message of salvation that is being preached? Don't despise God's grace.
PRAYER
I open my heart today to receive the grace of God that brings salvation. I believe with my heart that Jesus died for my sins and confess with my mouth that God raised him from the dead, and he is now my lord and saviour. My sins are forgiven, and I am saved. Amen
