Why do we pretend? We pretend at our job, in our life, in our relationship, we even pretend to be happy & on our social media accounts.
What makes our life boring that we need to pretend all the time? Why can't we just be happy with what we have? Why do we stay in places and citations just because we think we have to. When in reality we aren't fully happy, we are just pretending to be.
Life should not be about pretending, it should be about living in the moment. Sharing the good, bad, ugly & beautiful. Pretending is like a bandaid. It covers up the issues for the time being. But it doesn't fully get rid of them. Life is about embracing those moments in life & social media is about sharing your life.
On social media so many people pretend their life is amazing, when it's not. They portray a life they want when they don't have it. They think people would be more interested in them if they show a fabulous life. Showing how their job is fantastic, how their relationship is prefect, how they do all these amazing things, even if they are just home relaxing on their couch. They want people to see a life they wish they had.
What you see is what you get with me. I don't pretend. I show the good and bad. Life is messy and there is no way to live a life without it being a little messy. Whether people want to see it or not, it's there.
We tend to pretend in our relationships as well. We show social media how perfect it is, how in love they are, how happy everything is. But in reality one is probably cheating or they fight a lot or they are miserable and only happy about 10% of the time. Relationships are hard, it's not easy. But some are worth fighting for, some are worth the pain. But then you have some who have an expiration date and it's time to just end it. Move on so both can find happiness.
Pretending, like I mentioned, is a bandaid, something to cover up what is really going on and ignoring it for the moment. If that works for you, then keep doing it. But it will probably only work for a bit. Then you will need to stop pretending.
Just live the life you have, show what you want to show, just don't pretend anymore. It's useless and not worth it.
