Life is poetry that writes itself when we forget to count syllables and stanzas,
but rather trace our heart.
Words are expressions of feelings that reside, while swords are our pens that spout pain,
or quill explosions of love. Pain cuts us in two, blood splatters and taints our page.
Rip up the page and start over, bleed your words of kindness and generosity,
don't drown in your sorrow of misfortune and mistrust.
The blood bath of life; a bitter pill to swallow. Breath in and out, step one foot in front of the other and surrender to the red sea to set you to free sailing.
Good Morning My Fri-Yay Funday Friends!
Yesterday, I got a call from my Dad at 5 a.m. who was writhing in pain and called 911. He was having intolerable low stabbing spasming back pain that shot across to both hips and couldn't stand. I had it set for him to get help in the morning so we could get x-rays and a CT scan but he had reached his limit. It's horrible to see someone you care about in such misery and hope he gets relief.
He was there all day and between the Tylenol, Morphine, Dilaudid and numbing injection they gave him, nothing touched it. Further more the CT showed nothing and his blood tests looked fine. His BP skyrocketed to almost 200 due to pain and although they say not drugs, I'm not so sure. Of course he was given meds to lower his BP which got down to 160's when I left. He had a valve replacement for his heart 5 years ago so it's crucial to monitor that as well.
It took him all day to get a bed and he was miserable. They did an MRI late last night so we shall see what that says. I'll head there soon to hang out with him and no doubt wait all day for the Dr. to come and hear the latest. I've been on the phone with many colleagues I trust and making ortho appointments and navigating the less than par medical system.
As a side note, unless something is life and death, the last place you want to be is in the emergency room. Of course it makes sense that whoever is on the verge of crossing over is the one that will get immediate help putting you at the low end of the totem pole but try explaining that to someone who is in excruciating pain. Now that he's there, I just hope we get some answers until we can get to ortho and access what is actually needed.
I appreciate your love and care and let's pray for as much surrender and as much comfort as possible while he's there and he gets into the right hands that can help him. Pain is so tough to navigate that we get desperate to reach for anything to "fix" the issue and insurance is another bitter pill in finding who will accept you for the best care. Many of my friends , clients and family read my blog and I wanted to make sure everyone had an update. Especially those of you I had to cancel yesterday and today! I'm so sorry!
On a not so funny note the nurse said to my Dad, now we're going to turn you to face your wife. He does look pretty young for his age but she either thought he was my sugar daddy or I looked older than the hills.
Thank you so much to Kaushal Kishore or KK as we refer to him on his blog. for his brilliant comment to me this morning on my Love Letter's in a Box this morning to inspire my above poem, which I wasn't going to write until a light bulb went on. Do visit his heartfelt, powerful amazing blog when you get a chance.
I have comments off to free you and me of time as I know you are thinking of me and him and sending love and I'm blessed by that.
Hugs and love while you take every moment as a blessing of opportunity to love yourself, others and shut down when you need to. I'll be reading your blogs but not commenting if I can help it. lol! I'll see you sometime soon.
Here's a picture that's sure to put a smile on your face❣️
