The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced the opening of its Fiscal Year 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.
This program will award $324 million to enhance public and firefighters' safety against fire-related deaths and hazards nationwide.
Since 2001, the AFG program has been instrumental in helping firefighters and other first responders obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources necessary for protecting both the public and emergency personnel.
Applications for the grant are due by Friday, March 8. In the last round, 16 Maryland jurisdictions received an award. The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations.
This is a valuable opportunity for counties that may need emergency response funding. Interested parties are encouraged to apply to enhance their firefighting and emergency response capabilities.
More information about the grant program and how to apply is available here.
