A heavy snow storm forecast has been issued by the National Weather Service for our area from late tonight through tomorrow morning. The storm will be another fast moving system with accumulation of 4 to 6 inches anticipated. Which means a snow wonderland when I wake up tomorrow.
Am I worried? Nope. News like this reminds me that I have a safe space right here. No matter it's rain, snow, storm, or other elements outside, I've been warm and dry in my home for over thirty years. Time to count my blessing and knock on wood for my good fortune? You bet.
You see. my kids were born in the nearby hospital and grew up in this house. Without a doubt, to them the house has been and will always be their safe harbor. Personally, it has been a place for me when I was tired, had a rough day, or felt rejected by external world. The house has always been here waiting for me. It is our home.
The relationship is more than physical and emotional. It is what allows our lives to go on without worry, to adventure out bravely exploring the world, and to return when we need resting and healing.
What is your safe harbor?
