Very minor spoilers for a collectible in Ghostwire: Tokyo
Loothound:
I need to ask a question: how many raccoon spirits have you guys found? I don't think that I have found any that weren't the first mission where they basically hold your hand through it. I don't know what their reward is ( I really don't care about a new emote or outfit), but I'm starting to think I've got a glaring blind spot where these things are concerned.
Feminina:
I think they only give you an emote and probably XP, so nothing critical. I've found several of them, maybe 7 or 8? The cats (normal cats, not the store nekotama) have given me a number of tips about them, and I feel like that's how I've found most of the ones I did.
They'll say something about an object, like "that billboard doesn't seem quite normal" or something, and if you can figure out exactly which object they're referring to, it usually turns out to be a tanuki. Thanks, cats!
Loothound:
See, I started out by petting every cat I saw but they never really said anything useful. So I kind of stopped doing it, because sometimes there are sooooo many cats hanging around. Dogs, on the other hand, always worth the time if you feed them. Plus, I think that you can only feed each dog once, so it's possible to keep track of what you've done. Cats just persist. Did anyone see the cat that was just stuck to a wall sideways? Probably a glitch, but that was kind of fun.
Feminina:
I did see that! It was amusing.
And yes, the cats are really hit or miss. Usually they don't say anything that seems to mean anything, but sometimes you do get those comments that lead to tanuki. They're like a lottery.
Butch:
Yeah, I've found a grand total of one. It was a billboard up on top of a building. I have gotten cat tips but they usually lead me to run around looking at every sign or some shit EXCEPT the one that's actually a thingy. I have noticed that the thingies show up on spectral vision. The one I did find, I was all "Man, that thing up there sure is a big ammo thing. Haven't seen one that big before," and, what do you know, it wasn't an ammo thing.
So, I guess that's something. If a cat says "That barbecue doesn't look quite right," use spectral vision to see if you can see a barbecue. Said the guy who's only found one damn thingy.
Loothound:
Well, you're one up on me. I don't care about the rewards, probably, and in-game I feel like finding these damn things wouldn't really be a priority for Akito and KK what with all the tormented spirits, hauntings, and BIG EVIL going on. It's not really a big deal for me, but the quest reminder has been living in the upper left corner of my screen for weeks, TAUNTING ME, and I can't figure out how to turn it off. Does someone know how to turn it off?
Feminina:
Yeah, in spectral vision look for things that have unusual shapes, because you can sometimes see the tanuki tail sticking out of a vending machine or whatever.
Or just ignore them, which is also a valid option!
I do not know how to turn off quest reminders. Mine was telling me to catch the kappa for that poor drowned boy for days before I finally caught the thing. I still haven't caught the second one I came across. I don't think they're glitched, I think they just hate me personally.
Maybe the message goes away after you find one in the wild? It's not there for me anymore, although I'm sure I haven't found them all.
And if that's how you make it go away, then just pay 500 at a shrine and wish to find a tanuki and maybe one will pop up on the map and you can be done!
Butch:
If you go to the menu and go to "quests," you can toggle objective notifications on or off for whatever quest. Cleans things right up.
Feminina:
Whoa! Way to read the manual.
Or the in-game version.
Remember when games came with manuals? I would flip through them. Still probably miss a lot of key things like how to turn off quest notifications.
Loothound:
Ah, manuals and printed guides. I do so miss them, mostly for the little diagrams of the button and control configurations. Having it in front of me to refer to AS I played was so helpful in learning how to do a game. I hate having to stop the game and go in to look up how to do a thing when I want to do something. I actually made one up for myself when I was playing Battlefield V religiously. It didn't help all that much, because people who are hardcore into PvP FPS games are insane animals who can't be stopped by mortals (meaning people with kids and full time jobs).
