A Look at Our Week
The snow and freezing temperatures kept us home all week long! We finally ventured out Wednesday night and celebrated by breaking our no eat out in January rule and had dinner at our favorite local Mexican restaurant. Our willpower is weak these days and we have been off the rails diet wise. Working hard now to get back on track!
We did lose power for about an hour one evening and spent that time bundled up in front of our fire. The scenery out of our windows has been breathtaking this week! I enjoyed watching a family of deer playing in the snow and Bro trying to get his car unstuck in the snow. (He has not been successful yet!)
What's For Dinner?
Homemade pizza and salads, Parmesan Meatballs and Beef Stew have been on the menu this week. During my cooking day last week I made hot pepper relish using the hot chili peppers I had frozen from the garden. I also made another pumpkin roll for Cutler's girlfriend and a batch of my chocolate chip cookie dough to freeze so we can have just a few cookies at a time. And during our snow storm we enjoyed hot chocolate (made on top of our wood stove) and snow cream. Well, I enjoyed snow cream, no one else likes it!
Busy Hands & Busy Mind
I found a meme that says Instead of Snow Days It's a Sew Day! I've enjoyed my snow days in the sewing room! This week I was able to finish a set of Christmas placemats, the apron I'd been working on and also an appliqué t-shirt on the embroidery machine. It's a Mama shirt using a baby's onesie for the letters. My prototype came out very well. I was gifted a set of linen dish towels from a friend and added a little embroidery to them as well. They look great hanging on my stove!
I have also been taking better pictures of my pocket shawls and aprons using my new mannequin. I am loving how they are coming out!
Puzzle Progress
Snow days mean lots of puzzling time. We completed two puzzles this week and have another one ready to begin. We had several puzzles handed down to us and in the first one we did there was a puzzle piece that did not belong to that puzzle. We have saved the extra piece and are determined to find the puzzle it belonged to. We are thinking it belongs to the train puzzle that is next up so we will see!
Sappy Selfies
Have a great week! XOXO
