A poem for one of those golden, oldie friends who is more like a brother or sister than just a friend.
Friendship runs deep, deep, deep.
Fills the heart with feelings so delicious and sweet.
Friendship carries memories of times spent together -
being real,
laughing and crying,
walking and talking,
texting and wishing you were here to talk to again.
Friends are more than family.
They become part of you;
They fill the heart of you like no one else can.
My friend, my best friend, understands me -
laughs with me,
cries with me,
worships God as I do.
loves music and laughter,
loves... loves...loves people
the way I do.
Others do not understand this friendship
So I must walk away.
My heart cries
...grief combined with loneliness.
Father, teach us all to love;
Teach us all to seek to understand.
Guard my friend, my best friend.
We will walk and laugh, and worship and sing again.
It may be in heaven, but we will.
Until then...
God, keep my friend safe from harm,
And hold my lonely heart in your loving hands.
Hold me close as I cry for my friend.
Comfort me, Father...
....Until I can see my friend again.
