| RestoringVoice Nov 7 | Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:16-17 Teach means to show or explain to someone how to do something. Admonish means to warn or reprimand someone firmly. Two things stand out to me as I wrote out this passage. - Teaching and admonishing one another was the first. We are meant to discuss scriptures and songs and Psalms with wisdom. This week I shared a little rant on social media frustrated with Christian songs that are not biblical in their lyrics. There's nothing wrong with the songs that are not biblical, but I feel like songs played on Christian radio should be biblically correct, it could be the only gospel someone hears. I provided a few examples, not being ugly or hateful, just sharing my opinion. While many agreed others didn't and that was fine we are each entitled to our own opinions. It is my opinion that songs should be in line with God's word if it is meant to bring Him glory and honor. I love to share and discuss the Word regularly. I love having deep conversations about the Word with others, even if my interpretation is different. It gain fresh insight and if iron sharpens iron, I want to be as sharp as I can be!
- Everything was the second thing that stuck out to me. Whatever we do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord. Everything is defined as each, every comma any, all, thee, whole, all things individually. It is easy to want to separate things in life as "godly" or "ungodly". We see things as "spiritual" and "not spiritual"secular". But the Bible says "all things". It says "do everything in the name of the Lord". Does that make me stop to consider what I do on a daily basis? Do I realize everything I do, I do it for Him? (Cue Bryan Adam's Everything I do")
