Ryan Minor, former major-league player from 1998 to 2001, died on December 22. He was a two-sport athlete (including basketball) from the University of Oklahoma and was drafted in the 33rd round of the 1996 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. He is noted as the Orioles player who took Cal Ripken Jr.'s place when Ripken ended his historic consecutive games played streak.
His twin brother was Damon Minor, who played four years with the San Francisco Giants. There have been only ten sets of twins to play in the majors.
