| Workers' Archive Dec 30 | By Jay, 30 Dec 2023 It's over but not quite over, as New Years' is to come. There's a little more holidays left and more time to catch Christmas. I had the same complacency this year but not the same expectation of the catch. I virtually gave up from the start. I saw the two Christmas trees out in a closing-down sale at a store in October, along with tinsel and Christmas crackers, at the same time as Halloween themed goods and I shrugged. There was plenty of time left before I had to worry about it sneaking past me. Catching Christmas, to me, is most likely to happen whilst watching a film with siblings. It's that happy, relaxed feeling of space, connections and freedom. Yet, this year, I've barely watched any films. I was with my siblings for a day or two but it flashed past mostly following their orders to eat at regular intervals. The existence of a young child in the house meant much attention on them. That is, everyone else seemed to have their Christmas but I didn't have mine. | | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
