"So, if you are too tired to speak, sit next to me because I, too, am fluent in silence." - R. Arnold
Sometimes we can't put into words how we feel.
Either we are dumbstruck and feel nothing at all, or our feelings are too powerful to express effectively.
Sometimes we just feel too beaten down, and worn out. We feel desolate, defeated, and utterly alone.
And though we feel alone, we don't want to be alone.
We want someone to come alongside us, and sit with us. We don't need them to speak. We may not even want them to speak.
But we want them to be there.
Because by being there they send the message that someone cares.
And somehow that knowledge is so comforting to us.
Somehow it relieves our heavy burden – just a little.
We feel that we matter, and what's happened to us matters.
And that is powerful.
It is very, very powerful.
