Mark 14:51 says there was a young man following Jesus who was wearing a linen sheet, and the Romans seized him the night Jesus was betrayed. Then in verse 52 it says; "But he pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked." Because he did not want to stand with Jesus when things got difficult, his withdrawal from the situation was costly, shameful, and embarrassing. He lost an expensive linen sheet, and he ran off into that dark night, terrified and naked.
In serving God, you are going to reach a place where trials, pain, insults, false accusations and even persecutions will come your way. Some may be justified by your own stupid decisions. However, others will be demonic attacks designed to tear you apart, and stop you from loving and obeying God. You may feel shameful and even embarrassed at times, but you must not panic and run off. If you escape when you should have stood strong and gone through it, the end will be very costly indeed. Even when you may feel trapped and painfully misunderstood, patiently wait on the Lord. He will either provide you with the way of escape, or he will walk with you through the situation, and you will come out a blessed man who has gotten the victory.
Today's Word: Walk with God and trust Him in all things. Don't look for the way of escape, just look for Him!
