Cabinet approved PM JANMAN scheme with total outlay of 24,104cr
The PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan Scheme(PM JANMAN), launched by the Union government chaired by PM Narendra Modi with a total outlay of 24,104 cr, stands as a crucial initiative aimed at addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by tribal communities in India. This scheme is designed to bring justice and upliftment to the tribal populations, acknowledging their unique needs and promoting inclusive development.
Objectives:
The primary objective of the PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan Scheme PM JANMAN is to bridge the existing gaps in education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for indigenous communities. The PM JANMAN scheme is a central sector and Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
It will focus on eleven crucial and Important interventions under this scheme. These interventions proceed under 9 ministries such as the Ministry of tribal affairs.
Under the PM JANMAN scheme, provision of pucca houses,piped water supply, connecting roads,community water supply,construction of hostels, mobile medical units, education and skill,construction of anganwadi and multipurpose centers,last mile connectivity, solar off grid system, solar lighting in streets, installation of mobile towers and some other interventions will be implemented.
Focusing on these key areas, the government aims to ensure that tribal populations have equal access to resources and are integrated into the mainstream development process.
One of the cornerstones of the scheme is to enhance educational opportunities for tribal children. Special initiatives are in place to improve school infrastructure in tribal areas. Additionally, the scheme emphasizes the importance of promoting culturally vocational education to preserve and celebrate the rich heritage of indigenous communities.
Recognizing the unique healthcare challenges faced by tribal populations, the scheme places an emphasis on improving mobile medical units with medicine cost in tribal areas.
In the country's population there are 10.45 crore ST populations. Amongst ST populations 75 communities located in 18 states and UT of Andaman and Nicobar Island are described as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) by the government.
The scheme facilitates skill development programs tailored to the needs of indigenous communities, enabling them to participate in various economic activities. Additionally, financial assistance and access to credit are provided to support these communities.
