"When we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work. And when we longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey." - Wendell Berry
How true this statement is!
Here are my thoughts on the reasons why:
1. When we no longer know what to do or which way we should go, we are in a state of uncertainty. For many, this is a painful place to be. It is uncomfortable and challenging.
However, being at this place also offers us a unique opportunity for growth, self-reflection, and the possibility of discovering new pathways, options and strengths.
2. When we find ourselves in unfamiliar territory, circumstances essentially force us to step outside our comfort zones. This is the place where growth and transformation occur.
3. When we no longer know what to do, we are forced to engage in a process of introspection and self-reflection. We start to question our core values, beliefs, the things which are important to us, and what we want from life. This can be positive in the end. It can enable us to live a more authentic life. One which resonate with who we really are.
4. Being forced to deal with roads blocks and uncertainty, helps us to develop flexibility, adaptability and resilience. Each of these are important life skills. They prepare us to deal more effectively with other problems, obstacles and setbacks we may meet at a later stage in life.
