Isaiah 40:28-31 CSB – [28] Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. He never becomes faint or weary; there is no limit to his understanding. [29] He gives strength to the faint and strengthens the powerless. [30] Youths may become faint and weary, and young men stumble and fall, [31] but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint.
I recently watched a rerun of one of my favorite movies. The title of the movie was Limitless, and the star was Bradley Cooper. Somehow, he got caught up in a study of a new drug referred to as NZT. What it did was expand his mind to superhuman abilities.
I think I enjoyed it so much because it allowed me to fantasize about what if I could get an NZT pill and how it would be so cool to have a mind without limits. I could never make bad decisions because I'd already know the perfect decision to make. Talk about being able to forecast and manipulate the stock markets. To make business decisions. To almost be able to read the minds of others.
But alas, such a medicine doesn't exist, and the closest I'll probably ever get to such a medication would be getting a PEZ dispenser and living in a make-believe world that I had superpower pills.
But even though I don't have superpower medicine, I do have a God above who looks over me with all those powers. I absolutely love that verse. He never becomes faint or weary, and there is no limit to His understanding.
Yes, that's the God who I worship. And what's more, He promises that He will provide all the strength and power that I need. I know it won't come in the form of a special pill. But it will come from a relationship of walking and living in the Spirit and relying on the God who created the universe.
Today, you may be feeling a little worn out. But God is beside you, ready to renew you, to love you, and just bring you strength. Put away the magic pills and hold on to Him.
Stay healthy and have a blessed week!
