Scripture - I have given them the glory you gave me—the glorious unity of being one, as we are— John 17:22
Thoughts about what the Scripture means - God gave us His glory that we may be one in unity with other believers.
Application for my life - Glory is from a Greek word Strong's G1391 - doxa meaning dignity, honor, glory, and praise. He gave us His glory for the purpose of unity. Maybe that is why praise and worship is so unifying for the body. When we are in His glory - His dignity, we are unified when we are in His honor. We are unified. When we praise Him we are unified. There is a lot of disunity in the Church today. Could it be we are not working in Him?
Response back to God - Jesus you have already given me Your glory. I don't feel like disunity is from You, it is within me. I don't want to be bitter. I pray that You take this seed out of me. I plead the blood of Jesus over my life and bind the work of the enemy over and in me. I am Your child. I have Your glory and I am one with You and other believers. God, I believe the best of Your people. Remove any hurt in me that I can walk in unity with others. Let me let others get to know me, tear down my walls, break up my excuses.
