Thoughts from Exodus 32

Moses was upon Mount Sinai and the people grew weary. Instead of attempting to seek God, they asked Aaron to make a god. Aaron set out to please the people. Both perspectives were wrong. You have to seek God first and foremost. You also can't try to please people first, it goes against God being first place. It will get you into trouble every time.

The Israelites then gave credit for what God had done to the image they created. We often take credit or give credit where it should not be. We also fail to give the credit to God when we take it or place it elsewhere.

Aaron took it farther than the Israelites did. It is dangerous when our leaders step out against God. They will often take things farther than the people ever would.

God saw the actions and pointed out how quickly they turned from Him. They corrupted themselves and He was ready to destroy them and start a great nation from Moses.

Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them, in order that I may make a great nation of you. Exodus 32:10

Moses, being a good leader sought God for the people because He wanted God to get the glory. He reminded God of the covenant.

When Moses saw what the people were doing, he got mad. Moses held Aaron responsible. Aaron blamed the people. Then Aaron lied. Three thousand people were killed for the adulatory they committed against God and the people were plagued for the golden calf.
