Day 14 - Don't Test Him
"Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah." Deuteronomy 6:16 (NIV). Challenging or putting requests out there to dare God to answer is a waste of time.
Satan tried to make Jesus prove He was the son of God by making stone into bread so that He could eat. Jesus has been fasting for forty days. "Jesus answered, 'It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone.'" Luke 4:4 (NIV). Jesus was not going to respond to any dares from Satan. So, why would we dare Him to prove who He is?
Satan also dared Him to throw Himself off a cliff and let the angels catch Him. "Jesus answered him, 'It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'" Matthew 4:7 (NIV). God will have an answer for any crazy thing we ask of them, such as things that are self serving, challenges to His deity, or not in His will.
How are we challenging God to do something in our lives? How well is that going for us?
