It's been an intense week, and this is all building to the Capricorn Full Moon on Monday. In a way the lead up to this Full Moon is one that can feel like you are burning through old karmic patterns and ripping up Vasanas (seeds which create karmic tendencies). This is the perfect time to practice relaxing into this internal fire - unclenching the jaw, softening the shoulders and slowing the breath. As you do this you'll find these waves wash over you, without taking you with them. On July 3rd, we step into the energy of the Full Moon in Capricorn at 4:39 a.m. PT. But this isn't just any Full Moon. It's a supermoon, which brings it closer to the Earth - amplifying its effects and our connection with it.
This supermoon invites us into a profound time of self-reflection. It's a moment to take stock and evaluate the areas of our lives that call for realignment. This moon's position opposite the sun and Mercury in Cancer may pull us towards the comfort and familiarity of home, urging us to dig into our innermost needs.
This is a positive Full Moon that is trine Jupiter, opposite Mercury, and sextile Saturn. The beneficial Jupiter-Saturn sextile is "put to work" by the Moon in Capricorn. Some longer-term projects are finally moving forward. At the Full Moon in Capricorn, we may discover that we already have all the resources we need to succeed – so it's more about taking a leap of faith and making things happen for real. At the Full Moon in Capricorn, your hard work is finally paying off. But instead of doing what the Capricorn Moon does – work even harder, embark on even greater challenges, – don't forget to pause and celebrate, even the smallest of wins. Long-term success comes one step at a time. When we don't celebrate the small wins along the way, we lose sight of the big goal and then we're just too energy-drained to continue. At the Full Moon in Capricorn, remember that your hard work is making a difference. And that every little thing that you do will eventually bring you, one step at a time, closer to your goal.
July's full moon marks the half-way point of the calendar year… and if you really think about it, this "check in" from Father Time (Saturn) goes hand in hand with the essence of Capricorn. For instance, on top of whatever might be coming to fruition for you, this is an opportunity for you to also check in with yourself, specifically when it comes to personal and professional progress. What have you been working on? What goals have you recently committed to? Are you doing everything that it takes to succeed in this arena? Capricorn doesn't beat around the bush, and its energy teaches us how to be realistic and grounded in our reality. More importantly, with both the sun and Mercury transiting Cancer, there is greater emphasis on the way we're emotionally perceiving and approaching these endeavors. After all, Capricorn speaks to the foundation of our life's structure, but Cancer is how we feel when we get home after a long day at work.
It's time to step into our sense of authority without hesitation. This moon is encouraging us to discern between what is safe and reassuring vs. the structures and/or systems that no longer serve our highest good. Although, with Saturn retrograde in Pisces—the ruler of this moon—we are also becoming more aware of the ways we unconsciously self-sabotage, and/or the areas where we lack firm boundaries. Fortunately, with the help of the Greater Benefic (Jupiter), we are being celestially supported and validated when it comes to our actions moving forward.
