French authorities seized 1.7 tons of cannabis and 2 kilos of cocaine at sea off Martinique after intercepting a sailboat.
According to local reports, the seizure occurred 200 kilometres southwest of the French Caribbean Island on June 29.
The patrol vessel La Combattante intercepted the suspect sailboat.
It was the result of cooperation involving several national and international agencies.
Five individuals aboard the sailboat were arrested and handed over to French anti-narcotics investigators in Martinique on July 1 and are currently in pre-trial detention.
The suspects were indicted on charges including possession of illegal drugs.
