"I think it's brave that you get up in the morning when your heart aches, and life is messy. I think it's brave that you continue to love, and open your soul, despite the way that you were treated. I think it's brave that you keep on going, and you keep believing in something more, even when you don't know what you're hoping for. I think it is brave that you fight and fight. I think it is brave that you choose, every day, to keep move forward – for that's what makes you strong." - Bianca Sparacino
What can you do when you feel you can't face life? Below are some suggestions for coping with those days.
1. Decide to take it one day at a time. Don't allow yourself think about tomorrow. Don't think about how you will cope if you have deal with yet another thing, or what you'll do if something else goes wrong. Right now, you only have to make it through today. Don't allow your mind to jump ahead.
2. Don't ruminate over what's gone wrong. That will consume your already low resources. And there's nothing you can do to change what's happened in the past. Don't go there. It is just a waste of time.
3. Remember things change, and this too shall pass. Perhaps you can't imagine yourself being strong again. Perhaps you cannot picture a happy life again. But emotions do change. This intensity won't last. The pain you feel right now, will slowly ease as time goes by.
4. Know you can find something good in life again. Even if you feel despairing, desperate and alone, and even if you feel there's nothing left to live for now … allow yourself to think back to some old, fond memories … and feel that spark of life – for it's still there inside of you.
5. Immerse yourself in nature. There's something strong and timeless about being out in nature. The mountains, and the sea were there before your life began. And they will still be there – they'll be the same – for generations. And that can help to ground us, and bring a sense of peace.
