Si, sans surprise, JavaScript reste le langage de programmation le plus utilisé, de plus en plus de développeurs prévoient d'utiliser des outils d'IA. L'effet ChatGPT
JavaScript, encore et toujours. Pas une surprise, mais une confirmation. L'enquête Stack Overflow 2023 Developer Survey sur les programmeurs positionne à nouveau JavaScript et Python au top des langages les plus utilisés et les plus sollicités tout en précisant qu'ils sont loin de séduire autant que Rust. L'étude (90.000 développeurs interrogés en mai) se penche aussi, pour la première fois, sur les usages de l'IA.
Pour la 11e année consécutive, JavaScript, l'incontournable langage du développement web, est celui le plus utilisé par les développeurs ayant répondu à l'enquête annuelle de Stack Overflow. Il est aussi celui que la majorité des sondés souhaitent ou veulent utiliser, suivi de près par Python. Pourtant, c'est Rust que les répondants admirent le plus. En effet, près de 85 % des développeurs l'ayant utilisé, ont déclaré qu'ils veulent continuer à s'en servir, contre 58 % pour JavaScript et 66 % pour Python. Parmi les langages les plus prisés viennent ensuite TypeScript et Zig, une alternative au C.
L'IA attire… et fait peur
Les solutions de développement à base d'IA consacrent Copilot de GitHub (utilisé actuellement par 44 % des répondants), loin devant Tabnine. Sur les outils de recherche à base d'IA, ChatGPT (83 %) arrive en tête, suivi de Bing AI.
Près de 70 % des sondés se servent déjà ou prévoient d'utiliser des outils d'IA dans leurs processus de développement cette année. « La curiosité commence à l'emporter sur le scepticisme autour de l'IA. Nous ne nous attendions pas à voir autant de développeurs utiliser ou prévoir d'utiliser des outils d'IA dans leur processus de développement », commente Joy Cicman Liuzzo, VP Product Marketing, Stack Overflow.
En plus d'améliorer la productivité et l'efficacité, l'accélération de l'apprentissage sera également un avantage de l'intégration des outils d'IA dans le flux de travail des développeurs professionnels et de ceux qui apprennent à coder, révèle l'enquête.
Le rôle de l'IA dans le développement moderne
Dans une petite enquête par sondage Stack Overflow menée en mars, les développeurs s'étaient déclarés à la fois sceptiques et curieux à propos de l'IA...
La prudence reste de mise. Aujourd'hui, seuls 3 % des répondants déclarent qu'ils font entièrement confiance à la sortie. 39 % ont quelque peu confiance dans la sortie. 31 % ne font ni confiance ni s'en méfient. Et 22 % se méfient quelque peu.
Il faudra encore du temps.
