Malgré les efforts, trop de gaspillages. Les entreprises peinent à optimiser pleinement leurs investissements IT. Les chiffres de Flexera donnent le tournis.
Un tiers. C'est la part des investissements IT des entreprises qui est dépensée en pure perte, selon un rapport de l'éditeur Flexera. Trop de gaspillages ! Surtout, cette proportion est relativement similaire dans toutes les catégories de dépenses : les logiciels desktop (36 %), les logiciels déployés dans les datacenters (33 %), le SaaS (32 %) et, enfin, le IaaS/Paas (32 %). Tout juste est-elle supérieure de quelques points pour les applications déployées sur le parc de terminaux.
Le Flexera 2023 State of ITAM Report vient de paraitre. Et les conclusions ne sont pas bonnes… malgré de réels efforts. Les actifs technologiques inutiles, redondants et non catalogués sont le fléau des faucons budgétaires des entreprises. Alors que les organisations migrent les charges de travail hors des centres de données sur site, la recherche des sources de dépenses excessives conduit les gestionnaires d'actifs informatiques vers le cloud.
Identifier les logiciels qui se chevauchent et trouver des moyens d'exploiter davantage les droits d'utilisation des licences étaient des priorités pour 2 répondants sur 5.
Vers un réalignement des priorités
Alors que le suivi de l'utilisation des logiciels sur site reste la responsabilité la plus courante des équipes de gestion des actifs, citée par 7 répondants sur 10, la prolifération des services cloud entraîne un réalignement des priorités.
Les équipes évoluent rapidement pour régner sur le gonflement des logiciels basés sur le cloud. Près de la moitié des personnes interrogées ont exprimé des inquiétudes concernant les applications conteneurisées déployées dans des écosystèmes hybrides, contre seulement 28 % lors de l'enquête de l'année dernière. Le nombre de personnes interrogées axées sur les logiciels basés sur le cloud a augmenté de 10 points de pourcentage d'une année sur l'autre, pour atteindre 52 %.
Cette décision est une réponse pratique et prévisible à une transition vers le SaaS à l'échelle de l'industrie et à une vaste volonté d'optimiser les dépenses liées au cloud, une tendance reflétée par les changements dans les structures de responsabilité organisationnelles.
ITAM et FinOps, main dans la main
La plupart des entreprises interrogées (près de 3 sur 5) ont mis en place une équipe centrale de gestion du cloud. Selon Flexera, l'inclusion d'un professionnel de la gestion d'actifs dans l'équipe cloud est devenue la norme.
Alors que les stratégies de contrôle des coûts du cloud sont standardisées sous la bannière du FinOps, les gestionnaires d'actifs en prennent note. Un quart des équipes de gestion d'actifs déclarent déjà interagir fortement avec les équipes FinOps, une catégorie qui était nouvelle dans l'enquête de cette année.
ITAM et FinOps fournissent un plan complet des dépenses informatiques : à mesure que les outils et processus ITAM et FinOps s'améliorent, le nombre de répondants qui ont une visibilité sur leur parc informatique augmente. La visibilité complète est passée de 35 % l'an dernier à 39 % cette année. Pourtant, 61 % des personnes interrogées ont déclaré ne pas avoir une visibilité complète sur les actifs informatiques qui ont un impact sur les résultats de l'entreprise.
