There is much to be said about the perilous times we are in. The Holy Spirit said,"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come," 2 Timothy 3:1 NKJV. Society is moving towards a depth of depravity the history of the world has not seen since the days of Noah. However, Holy Spirit expressly states to Paul a matter of deep concern in the perilous times; Christians will depart from the faith. The love of the world and its allurements will be a driving force which turns people away from the Savior they once loved. We see this in Demas a former companion of Paul. Paul sadly states, "For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica," 2 Timothy 4: 10 NKJV.
It is a shocking reality and a source of great disagreement between Christians, that Christians can walk away from the faith. Many believe once saved always saved. This is true as long as we continue in the faith and endure to the end. Jesus taught us this truth. "But he who endures to the end shall be saved, Matthew 24:13 NKJV. Nevertheless, "The Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith!" (1Timothy 4:1)
