No real spoilers, but discussion of the dungeon of undead in the Dragonspear expansion of Baldur's Gate
Feminina:
Well, two people are dead again, but I defeated a couple more rooms of undead (the secret is fireballs). At one point Minsc walked into a trap and got charmed and tried to attack us, and we all just left the room and closed the door until it wore off, since he apparently was not charmed to be smart enough to open doors, which I found amusing. And there's a bit of story/puzzle that when we completed it the four of us still alive got 5000 XP each, which made me feel a little bad for Safana and Dynaheir missing out.
I think there's some other puzzle I have to do to get another door open. This place is big. And did I mention absolutely packed with undead of every description? Skeletons, zombies, ghasts, ghouls, wights...I haven't seen a lich yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's one here. Good times.
Butch:
Oh man, shit, I forgot about liches. This is exactly the place where a lich would be, isn't it? Shit.
I kinda feel liches were these things that always popped up as "bosses" in D&D (I put quotes as they happened in tabletop as well) and the game eventually said "You know? These suck," and they got phased out of the mainstream, which I support. This game predates that, though.
There's gonna be a lich.
Feminina:
Yeah, there's probably going to be a lich.
Butch:
Dude, as soon as you said lich, I said "Shit. She is wise. And she is most certainly correct."
Feminina:
I would not be surprised if there's a lich. We should probably head back to camp and get people raised before we try to open these last couple of doors.
We'll need every warm body if we're going to have any hope of fending off all the cold, dead bodies from whose hands we hope to pry loot and XP.
Butch:
Dude. Always raise people before you open doors. There's nothing good on the other side of that door. Any door. Doors suck.
Hey, check out a newly announced game: Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. It's Dontnod's new game. Seems it's in the style of LiS, in that it's a heartfelt story and choices and shit, but, instead of vaguely normal, it's about a couple who hunt ghosts in the middle ages and one of them dies and, when one of you is a ghost, things get awkward.
