Les entreprises auront à se transformer afin de créer une nouvelle valeur pour l'environnement et la société. C'est précisément l'objet de son rapport : fournir des recommandations concrètes sur la manière d'intégrer la durabilité dans les affaires, l'impact de l'évolution de la technologie sur les entreprises et la société et, enfin, les actions que les entreprises devraient prendre pour assurer un avenir plus durable à l'humanité.

Bon nombre des plus grands défis auxquels le monde est confronté aujourd'hui sont étroitement liés, démontre Fujitsu. Les développements émergents dans des régions spécifiques ayant souvent des conséquences imprévues qui peuvent se répercuter dans le monde entier. « Pour assurer leur survie, les entreprises confrontées à ces réalités ont un besoin indéniable de s'engager à atteindre une croissance durable. Le rapport illustre en termes concrets le rôle que la technologie peut jouer dans la réalisation de ces objectifs.

Fujitsu propose l'équation « durabilité = entreprise ». « Alors que divers environnements externes ont un impact significatif sur la gestion, la résolution des problèmes liés au développement durable peut être perçue comme une opportunité d'affaires. La transformation apporte de la valeur à l'environnement et à la société. C'est un enjeu de gestion important. » Toutefois, par rapport aux initiatives de transformation numérique, le concept de transformation durable, reste encore balbutiant.
Dans ces circonstances, les entreprises leaders qui mettent en œuvre des stratégies de développement durable et produisent des résultats promeuvent des initiatives visant à intégrer le développement durable dans les affaires.
