Many young girls have found themselves in regret after having sexual contact that they did not sign up for willingly. They are left in a state of confusion as the strategies used to get them to engage cannot be regarded as a crime yet they are undesirable. Well, there are tactics that men use to obtain sexual contact with the victim in other words known as coercion.
4 categories of sexual coercion
Emotional pressure- these tactics include the use of verbal aggression where there is continued nagging, pleading, urging, requesting, and pressuring. This makes the victim feel sorry for the man making her proceed to have sexual contact because of feelings of guilt or sympathy that he evoked.
Deception- the perpetrator communicates emotions, feelings, and promises that he does not mean or intend to fulfill. They sweet talk the victim, offer them compliments and make promises to allure her such as promising money or a job.
Interpersonal threats- the perpetrator may threaten that he will terminate the relationship and go after another person for sexual contact if the victim is not agreeing to have sexual contact. Other threats include being demoted or fired, damaging the victim's reputation, or being excluded from a group due to failure to comply. Always giving the victim an ultimatum such as: Unless you do this, I will.
Physical force- If sexual contact is not obtained they may resolve to use force or threaten to use their strength such as hitting or slapping the victim. They may pin the victim to the ground to have their way.
Have you ever found yourself being coerced into any sexual activity?
