Psalms 13:5-6 – But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.
One of the most common reasons a believer falls away from their walk with God is that they don't feel that it works. They start on their walk with God, and just about the time all is gliding along smoothly, the road gets rough. Opposition occurs, and bad things happen. The first thought for the believer is, What did I do wrong? Why have I fallen out of God's favor?
Often, they feel compelled to take the bull by the horns and simply get back on the road of survival within their own control. After a short time thereafter, all communication other than lip service ends with God.
Going to church may continue. Sunday prayers and worship may happen almost every week. But over time, the soul becomes numb to the voice of God.
You may ask, "How do you know about what you describe with such particularity?"
Because this has been me. Until I embraced the purpose of my journey, nothing made sense. Until I understood that God was using my journey to transform me into His image, I was floating down the river of life without a paddle that mattered.
Only when I embraced the purpose of my journey, did my spiritual journey stay on track. Now, I pray first for God to send me someone each day to minister to. To tell another about my relationship with Christ. Whether there is opposition does not matter so much.
So, how do you approach the rough road of opposition? You embrace to be shaped into His image. You greet the opposition of life. For to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Every step with Christ is good. Even those that are on the storms of life.
Today, I absolutely am certain that some who read this devotion have fallen from the path. For you today, it can be the best day this year. Give your heart and journey to Christ. Then you can rejoice because you will be rescued and back on the greatest journey in the universe.
Stay healthy and have a blessed weekend!
