TOPIC: GOD IN THE MIDST OF HIS PEOPLE IV

TEXT: 1CORINTHIANS 10:4
and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. KJV

The water out of the rock was called a spiritual drink, likewise the manna was referred to as a spiritual meat. Though, both are given physically, but by revelation we have studied and learned that they are significant and connote a spiritual message.

The manna and water are two different miracle with the same basis. Both are a function of God's word and presence. Both are to teach the people that faith in God is paramount. God used both medium to exemplify his power and presence. The bread is no other thing but God's word as we learned last month. And the water is significantly God who stood upon the rock.

Remember Moses' explanation about the manna in Deuteronomy 8:2-3, it says; And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. KJV

The lesson is to teach the people that man doth not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord. So, why they thought they were eating a substantial food, God was dealing with their heart of unbelief as he suffered them to hunger spiritually. What a mighty God!

In the same light, the people drank real and fresh water but spiritually, God quench their thirst by himself. He became their spiritual drink. All that God does is to bring his people closer to himself and gave them the greatest inheritance which is his person and his word. This two also, are one. God cannot be separated from his word. He is his word. John 1:1 tells us that the word which was with God and existed in the beginning was God himself.

Your life is spiritually significant than its physical worth. You must recognise this and relate with every other things on earth from the stand point of who you are in God. Regardless of whatever you may face, don't doubt the presence of God in your life. God is in the mist of his people to call the heart of the rebellious to repentance and cloth the nakedness of men. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Thank you, Father. I have Jesus the living water and bread of life. The word of God is the anchor of my soul and I abide satisfied by the efficacy of your word in Jesus' name. Amen
