Come Build The Nation 2
Then He took a loaf [of bread], and when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and gave it to them saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me. And in like manner, He took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament or covenant [ratified] in My blood, which is shed (poured out) for you.
Luke 22:19-20 AMPC
This morning I am reminded that a Nation is being built. It is a kingdom set up by the maker of the whole universe. Today is the passover and I liken it to the day Israel spoiled Egypt. Recently Egypt has attempted to claim reparation from Israel as they believe the wealth of their nation was taken away by Israel. That is not what I'm chasing down today. In dact today is called Maundy Thursday and Maundy is a Latin word which means covenant. That covenant is what I'm chasing down this morning.
The passage before us is very interesting it opens up with these words and I love the New living translation rendition, He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." After supper he took another cup of wine and said, "This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you. Luke 22:19-20 NLT. He took some is what was used to describe the acts of Jesus that brought us into covenant folk. I have read this over and over again and several version use thr word some is used to describe Jesus action. I saw s9mething this morning as the words hit. It was as though light came. That singular action was a separation by Jesus Himself.

We are not all called but it is God's desire that all be saved. This was followed up seriously by the apostles and later Paul would remind us not to eat in an unworthy manner getting drunk and all and forgetting some. I went back in time and observed that the first passover meal was eaten standing. In fact the kaftans were tucked in so that they were rwady to move quickly. It was not a large meal and it was shared between families who were small and what ever was left was to be burnt completely. No wonder a year old kid without blemish was used. The bones are soft the meat tender and guess what for those of us fighting to keep our weight down it is white meat so healthy. God entered a new covenant by His son shed blood. By this time tomorrow Jesus has faced trial and is being mocked by the Roman soldier as they gave him the forty lashes save one. Yet He ordained that we be separated. He didn't take the whole bread, Nah! Just some and declared life over it as he broke it and shared to His disciples.
As we enter the season of remembrance many have fasted and indeed our brethren of other faith are also fasting at this time. What was your fast about? Did you see that Jesus called us unto a separated type of life giving us His body and blood by the covenant of the vine. It was not juice oh it was fermented grape vine oh! Proper wine! That is not my focus so we move! What are we separated for is the question I ask this morning. If truly God is calling us to action to build the nation then we must be separated and different? We must act appropriately and show the world the mark that is upon us as a people. In fact what Jesus did that night was a huge separation and consecration. He confirmed it after the resurrection with another meal after which He ordained Peter to lead His body(Nation). This made him (Peter) the first Pope and that is another story for another day too. That separation was succinctly put in Psalms 78:4 which reads, We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. If we are to build a Nation His wonderful works must be made known and should bring the change that led to them being called First Christian at Antioch. We are the separated ones and Jesus Himself did that separation at the passover meal. In fact He told the Rock(Peter- not the wrestler turned movie star) that Satan seeks to sift him from the separated ones. May Satan not seperate us in this season and may we build that nation as Jesus the Christ ordained in Jesus name Amen! Shalom
