The Security Council got it Right

"The Security Council reiterates that continuing Israeli settlement activities are dangerously imperiling the viability of the two-State solution based on the 1967 lines."

UNSC Presidential Statement, February 20, 2023

It has long been claimed that construction in indigenous Israeli communities of Judea and Samaria endangers a two-state solution. The fact is that it only prevents a withdrawal to the Auschwitz lines, the extremely dangerous former 1949 armistice lines. However the indigenous communities of Judea and Samaria were never intended by the Israeli state (which planned them) to prevent the creation of a Palestinian state in parts of Judea and Samaria. Therefore, it is good that the Security Council presidential statement got it right in articulating that the indigenous communities only prevent a return to the extremely perilous pre-1967 Auschwitz ceasefire lines. It is certainly in principle possible to create a Palestinian state while allowing Israel to keep all indigenous communities as illustrated by the Kushner peace plan and to pretend otherwise is mere hypocrisy, especially for the American government. However, there will never be any need for a two-state solution, particularly as neither side sincerely desires it and once at least 10 million Median Jews have immigrated to Israel will Jerusalem be able to demographically afford to redeem and enfranchise all of Judea and Samaria and Amman can subsequently annex Gaza with an underground rail and road connection being built under the Negev Desert between the East Bank and Gaza.
