Starts out horrific, finishes inspirational! Interesting to see this kind of thing in Nightmare—by which I mean something that subverts the expectations we bring to horror. (Reminds me of a very different story PseudoPod ran that pulled the rug out from under me in another way.) I definitely predicted Nathaniel breaking down in tears and, you know, becoming himself at the climax, but a touch of predictability doesn't hurt a good story.
