(Exodus 13:17-22) (ESV) Here we see God leading the people of Israel out, but not by way of the land of the Philistines. Rather, He lead them, "by way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea." They also went out of Egypt equipped for battle, and carrying the bones of Joseph with them. Moses, in fact took them with him.
The part of this piece of scripture I want to focus on is the pillars. God led them by day in a pillar of cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire. Spiritually, this is significant to us. (Deut. 1:33) tells us that the LORD goes before us, to seek out places for us, and to show us the road to take. (Psalm 68:7) We also see that that cloud is a covering for us. It shields us. ( Psalm 105:39) With the cloud by day, and the fire by night, we can travel by day, as well as by night. That's significant, in that no matter how dark it gets, you are not stuck there! You can get up and get out of any darkness! Praise God like Paul and Silas did at midnight; and, the prison doors fell open! (Acts 16:25-26) (Psalm 69:3) (Psalm 146:7) (Psalm 27:3-6)
(Psalm 68:6) tell us: "God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land." Where was the LORD leading them to? The promised land, which would be their home. That word "solitary," doesn't just refer to one who is alone. It also has to do with being single-minded; being of one accord with the LORD. (Jer. 32:39-40) (Psalm 15) (Psalm 107:9) (Psalm 142:7) (2Peter 1:3-12) (Eph. 4:13) (Gal. 4:8) (Joshua 23:7) (Jer. 3:19) –This gives us a glimpse of God's heart for us. It brings tears to my eyes every time I read it. (Jer. 3:17) (1Pet. 1:4)
Those posted above are just a few of the scriptures that give us a glimpse of God's heart for us all. The Prophets are all filled with testimonies of His heart for us, and of His grief over us when we lose our way. I hope you'll read them all. He is such a wonderful Father! Thank you, LORD, for loving me! And, thank you for your patience, grace, and mercy toward me.
Love you from Café du Mondieu
