Happy Fri-Yay Funday My Friends
It is with love and joy, that I share ARCHERY IN THE UK with you today by author Nick Reeves & Ingrid Wilson. Both wordsmith's that stand alone in their own right, but better together, which you feel when you read them. Ingrid, is also the editor, from Experiments in Fiction (EIF), bringing her gifts to create this 5 Star read in book or on Kindle.
What a timely release, just in time for Valentine's Day. If you have been looking for what to gift for the big day, look no more and make sure you buy extras to show your love for an old flame, a new one, a friend or one that is in the making.
When I first got my copies in the mail, I was taken back by just how "skinny" this book was and curious just what the hype was all about, even though I know first hand the places these authors are capable of taking you, with just one sentence. The cover alone is so gorgeous with the rainbow and spanning arch of The Baltic Arts Centre and Millennium Bridge, Gateshead in the background. I couldn't wait to open it and have a read after the postcards and posts I had been seeing. Besides, it was just my kind of book, "skinny" with my limited time. And trust you me, they deliver the skinny and you want to sink your teeth into this journey in more ways than one.
Rainbow
Over the drab dull red-brick houses
a rainbow spans it's arc across the sky
heavy with clouds-slate grey
spectacular, while trees
swayed by winds' envy
brace for rain:
Love
looks like it's happening again....
pg. 22
With my love of nature, I was drawn in immediately to their journey on foot, train or plane, taking their readers with them as they traveled beautiful terrain, whether it be mountains, historic buildings, museums, bridges, arches that span the oceans, with beautiful lyrics of the song bird to transport you to the joy that new love transports you to.
Each word is a jewel that reaches your heart with their gifts in poetry from ballads, sonnets, pantoums etc that opens your heart with the archer image, leading you to the next page and a deepening bond of connection. Their words takes the reader into being part of their journey and growing love that continues to weave hearts and bodies intwined around every bend and corner of their travels. Sometimes you feel like you must close your eyes or they might see you looking in. I was in awe of the beautiful intimacy shared always inclusive of the great beyond paying homage to sites that make one quiver with the arrow that pierces the heart.
A Quiver
A quiver of arrows, and I'm all a-shiver
the battlements, the barricades and barrows gleam
and all the worlds a dream
as I hope to deliver
in an arc across the sky
(my aim is true)
in the blinking of an eye
my love, to you.
pg.25
Their words are fun, playful at times, deep and intimate, joyful and knowing of the hardships of living life fragilities as they share poems back and forth, taking turns. Their words flow and create imagery in your mind to return to, long after you're done reading them, leaving you wanting more of this sweet embrace in your life. The missing glove I kept seeing on instagram finally makes sense when I read the poem Night Falls.Together they hold hands finding that missing link where together they can conquer anything.
Night Falls
Night falls upon the frozen mountain-land
hardy tuffs of grass lit in gold green
an empty hand in glove, an empty hand
holds onto nothing bigger than a dream.
Hardy tuffs of grass lit in gold green
ignite the hillside, spark within my heart
holds onto nothing bigger than a dream
and nothing better for a place to start.
Ignite the hillside! Spark within my heart
melodious strains of valleys steeped in song!
There's nothing better for a place to start
two rights to join, and so correct a wrong.
Melodious strains of valleys steeped in song,
an empty hand in glove, an empty hand
two rights to join, and so correct a wrong
as night falls on the frozen mountain-land.
Hearing them read their poems one to the other is perhaps the most beautiful of all as their voices give richness and intimacy to their work.

AMAZON REVIEW:
Inspired by the Lyrical Ballads of Wordsworth and Coleridge, two authors set out to pen a contemporary homage to this timeless collection. As the collaboration progresses, however, the poetry and the unique narrative it carries takes on a life of its own. Thus, the authors come to tell their story through a collection of ballads, sonnets, pantoums and other forms: under arches, over bridges and against the backdrop of the fabled Northlands: from Tyne and Wear to Cumbria and beyond.

P.S. Thank you so much for voting for me for Publication Of The Year, for those of you that did and your support. Although I didn't win, I am a winner having each of you in my life everyday where we can share the intimacies of living and our hearts in trials and tribulations. That means more to me than any award ever could.
I was vote as one of 10 as one of the Socialites that support others and our community which I am still laughing about but I know is a huge honor in their mind. While it is an honor, the last thing I want to be know as is a Socialite.

Congratulations to all of the winners
