In the wake of the late Mampintsha's funeral say, social media was left with questions when out of a sudden, one of apartheid-era owned media companies influential employees, Hulisani Ravele, wrote a tweet tagging the first citizen of the country.
She questioned the president in a rhetoric;why is the KZN government contributing towards the late Durban Kawaito artist's funeral costs and poorly challenged the president to provide which 'legislation ' allows for government to contribute on private citizen's funeral.
The context of her thinking shows itself that it may be constructed on lack of knowledge, firstly she seems to think that this is a state-funeral. No this is not a state funeral Hulisani,so you didn't have to tagg the president but the Minister of Arts & Culture Department , Nathi Mthethwa; it is an official duty of that department to sponsor and develop local talents, therefore them contributing to any event or funeral of an artist, falls within their mandate, and no doubt Mampintsha was one of the well recognized local artists,so no doubt.
This may seem strange because that department, like others, are always doing nothing, and the government in general has the tendency of recognizing artists upon their deaths. It must not be surprising though,it is done in a provincial level, because out of all provinces, the KZN government has always had a relationship with their artists,so big up to the KZN government and this stops no one from any other province to do the same, looking into the unique nezs of KZN music industry and the role played by people like DJ Tira into transforming the industry to almost stay independent,it was through hardwork which if we look into aspects key aspects we then notice that this will almost always happen in KZN than any other provinces,so Hulisani lacks a basic level of understanding the music industry in South Africa,DJ Tira's outstanding role and the intended functioning of the department of arts & culture.
The apartheid-era owned media companies have this tendency of styling themselves as policemen ,but theirs go with bias of toxic-capitalistic practices,so thwy are safeguarding the minority's private interests but will often employ propaganda tactics like 'taxpayers' ... this ans that,so it may be that Hulisani hears ams sees these things from her colleagues and today she thought to try her luck too.Well for hee answer, she seems to justify her tweet with the fact that it is the taxpayers money used to contribute on the funeral, indeed every department is operating with a public budget and so it goes, Hulisani 's pay at Primedia is also half funded by the taxpayers and many other apartheid-era media companies, through a different government department that places adverts and sponsorships on these privately owned media companies,so should we also question the president why is the government setting aside millions to advertise on private citizens owned media companies rather than allocating the entire budget to SABC? .We say it that this is a capitalistic bias approach, remember how thet all fought the newspaper and TV channel belonging to the Gupta family? why because it threatened their revenues too,the administration of Msholozi and his deputy Ramaphosa, were on a track to dedicate almost the whole government 's advertising budget to the Gupta owned media and cutting-off these apartheid-era owned media companies, maybe if a Gauteng department contribute to any actor from eTV dramas ,of which eTV is owned by controversial billionaire Johann Rupert,no Hulisani Ravele would have questioned that, but because Afrotainment is owned by DJ Tira who is not part of the apartheid accumulated wealth elites, then it must be questioned why is his artist being rightfully recognized by the government?.
