Random hackers have allegedly demanded approximately Rs 200 crore of crypto-currency from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi.

The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) division of the Delhi Police has lodged a case of extortion and cyber-terrorism.

The data of several VIPs, including former prime ministers, ministers, bureaucrats, and judges is stored with the hacked system.

Working at AIIMS Delhi:

Internet access has reportedly been out of action on hospital computers based on the recommendations of the investigating agencies.

As hackers have demanded around Rs 200 crore in crypto-currency, it might be in action after paying it on demand procedures.

Other e-hospital servers at AIIMS which are very necessary for the provision of hospital services are under scanning procedure and being cleaned up by the NIC team.

Actions taken with data base and servers:

The databases and applications have been identified for attacking and prepared for four physical servers set up for restoring e-hospital services.

In addition, the AIIMS network is being sanitized for near future working. Scanning activity is ongoing to 24 hours a day, thus twenty out of fifty servers have been scanned.
