OVHcloud positionné « Major Player » de l'étude IDC MarketScape : Worldwide Public Cloud Infrastructure as a Service 2022 Vendor Assessment. Victoire à l'heure de la souveraineté !
OVHcloud devant IBM Cloud dans le dernier rapport IDC sur l'IaaS, pas moins ! L'entreprise de Roubaix annonce avoir été nommée « Major Player » de l'étude IDC MarketScape : Worldwide Public Cloud Infrastructure as a Service 2022 Vendor Assessment, évaluant les stratégies et capacités de 13 entreprises.
Le rapport souligne en particulier « la politique de prix attractive et transparente » d'OVHcloud, par exemple, en facturant pas les calls API. Il mentionne aussi « des services connexes intéressants, étant donné que sont également proposés des serveurs privés dédiés, de l'hébergement Web et du cloud privé hébergé ».
De même, le rapport fait référence à « l'ancrage d'OVHcloud en tant que fournisseur de services européen ». Ce qui lui confère « une position unique dans les conversations sur le cloud souverain et la localisation des données ».
De 8 à 13 acteurs
En 2020, le rapport IDC recensait 8 acteurs. Deux ans plus tard, le nouveau rapport « IDC MarketScape Worldwide Public Cloud IaaS » compte 13 acteurs. Deux acteurs se démarquent par leur progression : Google Cloud qui rejoint AWS et Microsoft dans la section des Leaders… et OVHcloud désormais classé « Major Player ».
Pour figurer au classement IDC, le fournisseur doit proposer un service IaaS depuis plus de deux ans, avoir généré plus de 100 millions USD de chiffre d'affaires sur ce segment en 2021 et opérer dans trois régions (Amériques, EMEA et Asia/Pacific).
Devant IBM Cloud et Tencent Cloud
En revanche, IDC regrette un retard d'OVHcloud sur son offre logicielle, alors même que « les clients du cloud public accordent une grande importance aux services de plateforme natifs pour de nombreuses applications ». Autre critique : un déficit de notoriété hors Europe. Lequel, estime le cabinet, nécessitera de « lourds investissements supplémentaires ». C'est un fait. Mais le groupe créé par Oktave Klaba piloté par Michel Paulin sait très bien que son essor sera d'abord européen. Pour preuve, le soutien de de la Banque Européenne d'Investissement. Celle-ci vient d'accorder, la semaine dernière, un prêt de 200 millions EUR.
Toujours est-il que le nouveau « Major Player » côtoie aujourd'hui IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, Huawei Cloud et Tencent Cloud. Mieux, OVHcloud vient de passer devant IBM en termes de stratégie et devant Tencent Cloud en termes de fonctionnalités proposées !
