"Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding." (Prov 17:27)
Did you know that you don't always have to say something? Did you know that you don't always have to share your opinion? Did you know that when a question is asked in a Sunday School class or small group, you don't always have to answer the question or be the first one to answer?.
Sometimes, or maybe, more often than not, it is better to be quick to listen to others and slow to speak (Jas 1:19).
In my experience, those that always have something to say stifle those that should be speaking. They suck the life out of the room and aren't good conduits of life-on-life communication.
The body of Christ is a community designed for sanctifying communication with one another. And the body of Christ is not designed for self-serving communication.
If you are tempted to start talking, maybe consider turning to someone else in the room and ask, "What do you think?" to someone else. Encourage others to converse. Look not to speak about your own interests but think about the interests of others (Phil 2:3-4).
