We were waiting for some friends to visit. The husband does tile refinishing. Turns out he is over booked and short handed. So we found a place in Riverside. I am exited to get this done. Both the master shower and the guest tub shower will be done this week. We were leery of just resurfacing until we started checking the prices on ripping it out for new. The company has a show room in Riverside so we went to see and pick colors in person. It is guaranteed for 5 years and should last 15. At that point I will be so old maybe I won't care what it looks like anymore or could even see it.
We got the idea after watching Trixie's Motel. She resurfaced all the bathrooms in the motel using vivid hot pink colors. We are not so bold. The guest room will be white. I just want it to look clean. The master has a little color it's called Cappuccino and has a pattern to it that makes it look like marble.
This is the ugly insides. The grout around the bottom is a mess and the tiles are stained.
This is the transformation I am hoping for...
The doors were a shock to my pocket book. I had no idea what it cost to install shower doors. We had picked out a modestly priced set of sliding doors at Lowe's for around 600. But when we asked about installation the guesstimate was 1500-2000. We're not paying more the install then the product!
This is the sad little space now. I hate those door almost as much as the scales.
The guys doing the resurfacing gave us a card for a guy who does nothing but shower doors. He was great. We did everything though text and phone calls. He ordered up a nice set of doors and will be here to install them next Tuesday. To be honest it is still a lot of money but we are getting better doors, 1200, and the labor is much less at 700. I still might be getting ripped off, but these frameless doors are not a good DYI project for old men who can't measure and argue constantly about the proper way to do things. The main thing is we are getting things done before I retire next year. There are a couple of other project on the list but we can cross this one off.
This is what the new door will look like. Only we order black instead of chrome hardware.
If only I could get my body resurfaced. Well we are working on that one. Exercise and weight loss are a continuing project. Once I have a new shower maybe my old body will change to match.
