De Airbus à Solvay, en passant par BASF et Michelin, sept géants européens viennent de former Miris Insurance, une mutuelle de risques cyber. Siège à Bruxelles.
Miris Insurance est née. Face aux failles du marché de l'assurance cyber, de grands groupes européens ont mis sur pied une mutuelle dédiée à la couverture des attaques et autres risques numériques. Le géant de l'aéronautique européen Airbus, le spécialiste de l'environnement Veolia, l'équipementier automobile Michelin, Adeo (la maison mère de Leroy Merlin) et Sonepar (le distributeur de matériel électrique), se sont alliés à l'allemand BASF et au belge Solvay.
Aujourd'hui, le marché de l'assurance cyber est volatil et court-termiste, les assureurs ne souhaitant pas s'engager sur leurs capacités futures. C'est un problème, notent les experts. En effet, le risque cyber devient structurel et de long terme, les entreprises étant toutes engagées dans la digitalisation de leurs activités.
25 millions EUR de capacité à chaque membre
Constituée en Belgique, « détenue par les membres et opérant pour les membres », la mutuelle n'assure que les cyber-risques de ses membres. Mais la porte semble rester ouverte pour de futurs membres. Les entreprises intéressées pour rejoindre l'initiative devront « suivre un processus de contrôle à la fois de leur santé financière et de leur capacité de gestion du risque cyber », explique le site du projet. Elles doivent aussi faire partie de l'Union européenne ou de l'espace économique européen. In fine, les membres actuels auront le dernier mot sur les candidatures.
Au cours des deux premières années de fonctionnement, Miris Insurance allouera jusqu'à 25 millions EUR de capacité à chaque membre, indique-t-elle. L'assureur précise aussi envisager la possibilité de monter la capacité à 30 millions EUR dès la troisième année. Son objectif est de compléter l'offre disponible sur le marché dans une démarche de coassurance.
Partage des meilleures pratiques
La demande de licence concerne l'assurance directe, mais son domicile en Belgique signifie qu'elle peut également accepter la réassurance entrante si nécessaire. Miris Insurance peut couvrir les activités de ses membres dans le monde entier, mais par le biais de politiques émises en Europe.
Miris Insurance précise aussi que les CISO des membres ont formé un groupe avec deux objectifs. Le premier est la sélection de nouveaux membres, puisque la performance dépend du maintien d'un profil de risque global meilleur que celui du marché. Le second consiste à partager les meilleures pratiques en matière de gestion des risques entre les membres afin d'assurer la qualité continue et élevée de la gestion des risques des membres.
Notons que la Belgique héberge déjà les mutuelles Emani et Elini, qui couvrent à elles deux de nombreux risques pour des sites nucléaires et des entreprises de ce secteur.
