Looking Back

One should look back
Only as an act of letting go,
Of coming to terms with loss,
And, a recognition of
Where we went right or wrong.
Maybe think about what
We could've done differently
So as not to repeat
The same cycles again.
Sadly, most of us get stuck
In the past and, keep repeating
Those memories in our minds
Like an old cassette playing on loop
Till the tape breaks,
And it is too late mend it again.
So we become the cycles
That we attract again and again.
If only we could be 'present' more,
And, not get stuck in the past,
Or worry about the unseen future,
Our lives would be so much more sorted.
As you rush through your day,
Slow down and take a moment to savour,
And, give this some thought.
