Juliette Gordan Low's birthday was October 31, 1860. She is the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA in 1912. On October 9, 1997 a band of Girl Scouts and two leaders traveled by Amtrak to visit her birthplace in Savannah, Georgia. Minutes before our stop our train derailed; our schedule and minds were changed. Read about that on November 6, 2022.
In those days my husband and I were devoted Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leaders. I was a leader of both organizations on the troop, district, and council levels. Boy Scout and Girl Scouting was our god. We started to enrich our children's lives which turned into enriching others. Our free time was given to scouting which negatively affected our marriage, children, and other relationships. Because this was my god, I had to completely give this venture up twenty-five years ago when I turned my devotion to the Lord. Return on November 6, 2022 to hear about that.
However because of Juliette Gordan Low and Baden Powell there were a ton of positives. We experienced places, people, adventures, and skills that remain with us. Thank you Juliette for your efforts to instill leadership skills in young women. Thank you Lord for how you used this time in our lives to draw closer to You.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13.
