TOPIC: MAINTAIN THE SPIRIT GLOW
TEXT: ROMANS 12:11
Never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord; AMPV
Yesterday, we learned that boldness is received in the place of prayer and is birthed by the power of the Holy Spirit. We receive from the word the instruction not to give ourselves to pleasure (such as been drunken with wine) but to be filled with the spirit.
There is the spiritual posture every child of God must maintain. To be filled with the Spirit doesn't mean that you must be baptised with the Holy Spirit over and over again. Once you have been baptized, you certainly have the gift of the Holy with the vocal ability to speak with the spirit's language.
Therefore, being filled with the Holy Spirit is the attitude of fervency or staying aglow in the Spirit. Jude 20 gave us such attitude of fervency, it says; But you, beloved, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit, (AMPV).
It is to rise like an edifice (an edifice is a magnificent, structured and beautiful building) by praying in the Holy Spirit. When this is done, you are building upon your faith. Your faith is continually stirred such that it can face the world's and it's lust.
There are other attitude to maintain a fervent Spirit in the Lord. We see this from Ephesians 5:18-20 Do not get drunk with wine, for that is wickedness (corruption, stupidity), but be filled with the [Holy] Spirit and constantly guided by Him. Speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, [offering praise by] singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks to God the Father for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Singing spiritual songs, ministering to the Lord with your heart and giving thanks to the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. All these instructions are to guide you into the reality of a life lived through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Always be aware that you are not yourself, not alone and there is the power of God in you. Then, endeavour to engage in attitudes that will fuel his presence in you. Always cultivate and maintain a sound and palpable spiritual atmosphere.
PRAYER
Open your heart to the Lord and give him thanks, worship him in songs and begin to speak with the spirit language. Just minister to the Lord for few minutes and be filled with his joy afresh.
