There's this guy going around saying that ALL individuals involved in an act of suicide are under the eternal punishment of God. For me, it's some, but not ALL. I make a distinction between an act of suicide made by the conscious assertion of the will of an individual which is sinful and that resulting from serious physical and/or mental defects of the brain and the mind. I believe sin (separation) to be a condition resulting from a consciously willful act against God. Those with mental and physical defects in the brain, in the absence of effective treatment and healing, do not have the capacity to form the act of will. Therefore, even man considers the presence of such defects in evaluating criminal responsibility and fitness for judicial proceedings. But if willful, corrupt man considers these as extenuating circumstances that warrant lighter sentences and even transferal of the process from a corrections setting to a mental rehabilitation and care one, why then would our loving, merciful, compassionate God (who loved the world and all in it so much that He bestowed upon the lost a gift of grace in the form of the light of the world in Christ) then disregard that same condition? I do not believe He does.
