The Black Market Basement
"Ok but I am not going in there without protection."
Claire looked at Princeton half grinning half confused.
"What?!"
He rolled his eyes, flipped his hair back, and walked away from her while saying, "Girl, it's a creepy underground bunker, haven't you watched any horror movies? You do know the black man always gets killed first? ... Hold on I'm gonna get my machete."
Claire took a step back and followed him to his car, as he opened the trunk, and sure enough, there was a machete.
"Dude... you can't bring a machete into work."
He lifted a hand and waved to her, "Oh yeah! don't worry, I got a spare for you too."
She sighed, thinking that's not what she meant at all but admittedly growing more excited to carry a weapon.
So she followed him to the passenger side of his car and he handed her a samurai sword.
She looked at it with astonishment and disbelief.
"Um, Princeton... why do you have a samurai sword in your car?"
He rolled his eyes, "Girl... You know who I roll with. I need protection of every kind. I don't take shit from no one."
She smiled behind his back and followed him back to the crawl space behind the building they found.
Then they opened the door...
It was a small enclosure at first, it was soo dark, and smelled of bleach, and an underlying smell of dead rotting things.
They both looked at each other and hesitated as if trying to wordless decide who would go down first.
Princeton pushed Claire in first.
"I can't risk ruining this face, I'm willing to sacrifice my "girl" friend to the demons in the basement."
Claire scoffed and rolled her eyes, then slowly made her way down the stairs, it felt damp.. the air. It was like an indoor swamp and pool in one. She turned the flashlight on her phone.
Princeton soon followed behind, spazing out from every little sound.
"Ain't no entities getting me."
He brought a bible down with him and rehearsed the Lord's prayer.
Claire made her way down to the last step.
She exhaled and looked around.
It was like an underground lab, there were tubes and syringes, and tons of medication bottles without labels on shelves upon shelves.
She found a light switch and turned the light on.
Princeton and Claire gasped.
"shit,"
they said in unison. The lab was much bigger than the hospital, there were boxes upon boxes and coolers... Small red coolers everywhere.
A ball formed in Claire's stomach and she could feel it ache in her chest.
She slowly, picked up a cooler and opened the lid.
It was filled with ice packs that were intended for shipping cold items.
She was growing afraid, and Princeton could see her shaking.
"No, girl let's go... We need to go now! This is dangerous. We need to leave and report this. Come on, before someone, finds us."
Claire still allowed her curiosity get the best of her. She reached in and pulled out a plastic bag with a label

She took a closer look, it was a kidney. She dropped the bag and shivered. Beginning to panic. She turned to Princeton to leave.
"Oh hell no, bitch put that back. Before we get caught."
She rushed to do just that but was shaking too much to put it away the way she found it.
Princeton pushed her aside, "Let me do it. I ain't going to die here with... you in a black market lab"
She was beginning to tear up as he successfully got it in, and back into its place. They both rushed to the door they came in through.
They ran to the door to find it was locked.
"Shit, Shit, shit."
Claire was hysterical at this point. Princeton grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her.
"Shut up! Shut up! We are going to get out of here, but you have to shut up and stay calm! Understand?!"
She nodded and he wiped her tears.
He pushed her back and raised his machete and whacked at the door... Once, twice, and again and again.
Until his breathing was ragged.
"Shit"
He said again.
Then, the doorknob turned slowly, and to their horror, it was the blonde woman... And she was with five big Russian men, who looked like they could kill flies with their eyes, with their breath, with just a flick of a finger.

Earlier that day
"Listen, Jake, I know she's pretty... All girls are somewhat nice to look at but don't let it fool you. Women are so much work... Firstly, you can never tell her anything, cause she will tell her best friend immediately. Then...
Women want you to be manly to protect them, but in touch with their feelings, but not too much... Like you can't cry in front of a woman cause then they view you as weak... and then women expect you to read their minds and notice every little detail. And oh my god don't get me started on sex, a woman is nearly impossible to please unless you get it just right. And when you do she will never leave you alone even if you are over her. Don't get me started on women on their periods... tbey become monsters!
Take it from me... I'm gay for a reason!"
Jakes's mouth is hanging open, appearing openly mortified. Today is his 16th birthday, and Princeton took it upon himself to give the kid a lesson about women as a man.
Claire was within earshot towards the last of his speech.
"What are you doing to the poor thing?! Can't, you let him be a normal teenager and figure it out on his own?"
Princeton shook his head no, and crossed his arms, "It would be a disservice to the brotherhood."
Claire put her hands on her hips, "brotherhood?"
He waved her away, "Yes, yes brotherhood... You wouldn't understand, you're a woman."
She scoffed, feeling slightly offended, but shrugged it off because it came from Princeton.
She looked at Jake, "Hey, Jason asked if you could spray weed killer around the back of the building. Then come inside we have a surprise for you."
He smiled genuinely, and it warmed their hearts, he was changing since he had been here at the humane society... But this kind of work changes everyone, who embraces it.
Jake was getting along with everyone and started to grow fond of the dogs, sure the kid still had pyro urges and the desire to destroy everything, especially after finding an axe in the back where there were a lot of other useless tools and garbage.
Nevertheless, everyone there took him in and started to treat him like a valued individual instead of a juvenile convict.

Jake did as he was told when he found a door in the back of a shed, behind the humane society, he wanted to investigate it when Claire came back to let him know it was time for him to go up with them to the animal hospital.
Jake showed her the door and she shrugged, "Don't worry about it, it's probably filled with more crap we don't need to deal with."
He kept looking at it, with so much curiosity, that it became contagious to Claire.
She sent him away and followed, but later when Jake left, she got Princeton, because they were about to investigate...
And that was the beginning of their worst nightmare...
