Well, stuff went long and then there was kid dinner and then I fell asleep when it was supposed to be game time so I got nothing.
You're ahead of me, aren't you?
Feminina:
I doubt it. Basically all I did was wander around the lobby, go through the security gate, wander around the area back there, and talk to the janitor. He told me to proceed further to talk to someone about a position as his assistant, so that's next on the list, but at the moment I'm just standing there staring at him.
Because didn't he also kind of ramble on in normal-sounding-yet-nonsensical gibberish? And say something about taking an axe to something or someone behind a sauna?
There's definitely a dark and ominous vibe here. Creepy stuff. Something about mold? And a lockdown, and [redacted] [redacted] "shoot to kill."
Seems nice. I have a good feeling about this place.
Which may also be all a dream given that opening monologue about a room that isn't reality. I'm sure I'll learn more once I play past the first 10 minutes.
Butch:
You will learn more, but, in the tradition of 2022, more questions will be asked than answered. At least in the first hour.
That dude was creepy. Must admit, jumped a bit when I heard him singing.
Yes, he did mention something about that. Also, his rather quick assumption that you were there for the interview was odd. Vacant creepy building, all the lights off, it's in lockdown and "Oh, hi, yes, the interview. Right that way."
I do kinda love that they started the game this way. Usually, games do this sort of thing in a cutscene, then hand you the controller when it's time to start jumping and shooting and learning "how to play this" skills. Here, the game gives you the controller and pretty much lets you Edith Finch it for a while finding/learning stuff instead of a long cutscene and before the whole "how to play this" part.
I even did what I often do when a game starts which is to start mashing buttons to see what they all do. "Oh, that's crouch! Oh, that's jump! Oh, that's map!" etc. In this first bit, nothing did anything. You couldn't jump/open the map/whatever at all. Neat.
Feminina:
On the other hand, I guess -- lights off, vacant creepy building, lockdown, why the hell would anyone be there if NOT for an interview?
Someone just wandering in off the street to poke around for no legitimate reason? I mean, yeah, in fact that's what's going on, but maybe the odds are low, in a realistic-type scenario.
Plus, probably, what does he really care? He's not security, it's not his job to keep people from wandering in off the street. I do also like the clue here that probably most people are wearing uniforms/badges, so if we aren't we must be there to work as a janitor's assistant. Not that there's anything wrong with being a janitor's assistant, and if we just want to be able to prowl around the place, it's a pretty great cover. Maybe he's on our side.
Or planning to dismember us later behind the sauna. I liked her comment: "that said, if anyone turns out to be an ax murderer, my money's on him," or whatever.
Butch:
I have found that, in those rare instances where I've had to bet on who is an axe murderer, picking the guy who just threatened to kill me with an axe is usually the good bet.
